George Washington was an American statesman and soldier who served as the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797 and was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He served as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and later presided over the 1787 convention that drafted the United States Constitution. He is popularly considered the driving force behind the nation’s establishment and came to be known as the “father of the country,” both during his lifetime and to this day. Join us as we celebrate Presidents Day with a performance by Dale Reich. Dale was born in and lives in Oconomowoc. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1965. He earned a B.A. and M.D. in History from UW-Whitewater. He is a retiree from Gateway Technical College where he taught history and other social studies courses. Dale has also authored 12 books, including three on local history. He is currently writing a play on Oconomowoc’s experience during World War I. Dale has also served in the armed forces as a combat veteran during the Vietnam War. He is a member of 11th Infantry Brigade.
